beyond the chill

within just a few short hours of shooting this, i recieved news that the man i consider a second father has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.  it won't be long until he has his wings too.

the bathtub is in the living room, the piano in the bedroom, a bunny is the mistress of the house.  the controlled part of this scenario?  none of the toys are outside of the dolhouse!

i couldn't decide on just one picture today, as a play in the fresh snow this morning brought lots of opportunities for photos! 

this little bush graces the neighbours' front yard, and is still living despite my three children having built a bob sled run right beside it between our houses ;)

i've never really tried photographying snowflakes before, but even with my 18-55 kit lens, i was able to capture one on my coat this morning pretty well!  yay!

as a thoughtful neighbour (thanks M!) cleaned out her closets today, she thought of my youngest when she came across this bumblebee costume.  little J was so thrilled with it, she insisted we head inside immediately to put it on... and spent most of the rest of the day wearing it.

today's class prompt was "warms your heart", so i spent the day looking for hearts around the house.  it actually took me a couple of hours to notice the the adorable wings on this much loved costume were exactly what i was looking for!  this truly does warm my heart!

i took this with my point and shoot while sitting at the kids' school waiting to pick them up.  the sky that is always overcast and foggy here in the winter was an absolute fantastic blue today.  magnificent!

it is a place to display our children's artwork,

it holds good food to nourish our family,

we have resources to fund the electricity required to keep it running.

today's prompt was accompanied by a picture of a coffee maker.  many chose applainces to photograph and others chose items like teapots, writing utensils and other devices that make our lives better.  mine is my favourite chair.  i write to you in it, everyone in the family fights over it, and it's definately showing its age.

little J's first day back in "playschool" (aka family frolics)... she was so incredibly happy to be back in the classroom with her friends and have room to run, jump and climb!  art is definately her thing lately and these wonderful creations are all over our house!  this is definately my little bit of sunshine today :)

...a day of... rest?! lol

today's prompt was to take in the first day of the year, enjoy and rest.  it wasn't really that easy for me though, with my son's new years eve birthday sleepover remenants to clean up and our large family gathering to prepare for!

the tradtion for this get together was started many years ago by my aunt and uncle in the basement of their home.  it didn't happen for quite a few years but was happily started again last year.  many happy memories were made for me as a child attending these gatherings, and i hope my children are able to make many of their own :)
